Usually after myth world cup I disappear from myth until I get an e-mail about the next mwc mainly because I am back in school and I am too busy to get on and wait for games to be hosted...and this will be the case right after I finish up with this tournament.
So I was thinking of making a Myth 2 night once a week that would be a good time for americans. I would suggest the Euros do the same thing for a time that would work for them if this ends up happening.
Has this been done? Do you think it would work? Would I be wasting my time putting effort into doing this?
Give me some feedback please

I tried something kind of similar about a year and a half ago. Created a google group and had about 35-40 members. The idea was to get a good group of non-retards together for some FFA games once a week. We had a couple decent turnouts, but the whole thing fizzled out.
Is a decent idea though, if properly implemented. If you could somehow manage to have the mariusnet admins announce it weekly on the news feed or something like that, maybe it could work.

it would be difficult to pull off for an extended period of time and would likely require a lot of effort
it is possible though. I would suggest a few things to make it more interesting, fun, and attract more players.
designate 2 competent captains who pick teams kickball style. The 2 captains should have at least some desire to try to win the games to ensure good quality games. re-pick teams quickly before each game with the losing captain picking first. swap out captains as needed. it takes a bit longer but it is going to ensure really good quality games, and players will have good opportunities to team with everyone to change it up a bit. you don't have to re-pick teams forever, just once both captains are happy with their teams and the games are good and close.
only allow players that the captains want to pick. complete garbage players are going to make the games horrible and have everyone leave. (sorry newbies, not trying to be mean, just realistic)
finally, take responsibility for keeping a running tally of the number of games played by each captain/player and number of games won, even as teams are repicked. keep the tally running from week to week and publish it. this show everyone else that the games happened, who showed up, and encourage more people to show up to get in on the action for those kind of informal rankings. it will foster a little competition and still fun good games.

obviously that depends on the number of players and I reaaaaaallllyyy doubt you will completely fill a game of non-newbs, especially on a regular basis. some weeks im sure you wont even get enough for that big of 2 team games, might just be small 2 team games. its important to play anyway no matter what and post the results so that people can see that the games do happen reliably and there is an update every week
if more show up to fill more than 1 game, then by all means.
also if the scorekeeper has to leave, make sure they hand off the duties to someone else. the format for the night should be flexible so people can come and go as they please, and the games can last as long as enough people stick around to keep playing.

All good ideas and the type of feedback I was looking for and I think this has helped me decide that I will go through with it.
Do you think I should make a forum specifically for this? Also what Time/day do you think would be best? ...I was thinking a of starting it on a Wednesday or Thursday at 6pm pacific (late enough that west coaster are off of work but earlier enough that the east coaster can make it)
Ps:
Expect this to start up mid September

doesn't have to be the same 2 captains every week. that doesn't even matter. i meant designate 2 captains when the night begins, and as captains come and go.
I was thinking do it on a weekend asmo, early saturday afternoon. you could try weekdays i guess too, im not sure how good of a turnout it will have though. I guess just try it and see how it goes.

Sunday afternoon would be cool, I think it was Abs that hosted a myth day one sunday and we had 16 ppl show up for some good games. I'd be down for that.

Gkg - In general i like your ideas on this although banning the lesser players may be a bit harsh as I've noticed in asmo tourney games that some of the lesser players seem to do fine. Then again the players in asmo tourney are not exactly edulus or phex or whatever so yeah. Good ideas in general though.

I don't think this should be looked at in terms of "a 2-team game", but more as a way to get a ton of players on the server. I'd rather see 60 people in the lobby, a couple of FFA games, and a good 2-team game going that just one exclusive kickball game. That's just a good way to discourage people from participating.
I also wouldn't create a forum here for it. A single topic would suffice.... I'd talk to the mnet administration and try to have it announced on the newsfeed every week. (example: every Friday have them post a reminder that Sunday is myth day, or something). Could have a topic created in both the MNet and Tain forums, as well. I have a pretty extensive email list of old mythers too... could send out a mass email to let them know. Probably only once though... don't want to spam anyone.
