amino1 - if you do not want to be identified with these comments then you should stop making them. Nice troll. You asked a question, I answered it best I could according to my understanding of the way the debate is framed, and instead of dispassionately dispensing with the popular criticism from the "left" you opt instead to lambast me, completely ignore my disclaimer, and offer no reasonable justification in support of your claims. I really don't care. I was interested in your response; I had mistakenly thought it would be well reasoned and sensible, but instead I am forced to conclude that you are a disappointingly sub-par troll. Consider your paltry attempts to inflame political disquiet ignored until I am given cause to reconsider. Pipe yourself down, son.

www.politico.com/news/stories/0812/80474.html?hp=t3_3"Romney’s speech leaned heavily on the themes that have defined his presidential campaign from the outset: Obama’s economic mismanagement, his own leadership experiences and “the genius of the free enterprise system.”" "In a passage that drew roars from a sometimes-quiet crowd, Romney defended his career in private equity as a model of the economic values that make America great, pointing an accusatory finger back at the Democrats who have attacked him as a corporate plutocrat. “Business and growing jobs is about taking risk, sometimes failing, sometimes succeeding, but always striving,” Romney said. “It’s the genius of the American free enterprise system – to harness the extraordinary creativity and talent and industry of the American people with a system that is dedicated to creating tomorrow’s prosperity rather than trying to redistribute today’s.”" If bankrupting American manufacturing businesses with hundreds of millions of dollars of debt and then looting them and stowing the profits in the Caymans and Switzerland is "the genius of the American free enterprise system" at work... well... figures. But we wouldn't want to "punish success" and "reward failure" now would we?

You also ignored my credible response to your point, opting to respond with more liberal froth and anger. Now before idiots like you and paris say I am the angry one here, let's remember I didn't cast the first stone, you guys did. It is within my right to call you to task for undeserved hostility. What did you think about the RNC speeches, Guest? I thought it was more of the usual GOP red meat with basically zero substance.
At an individual level, I felt sick to my stomach listening to the outright lies and distortions of history for the sake of jingoism and partisanship. American GOP voters must be astoundingly ignorant of their own history if the kind of tripe as was spewed by Condi Rice and others can pass with cheers and standing ovations. All the flag waving and anti-Obama rhetoric just speaks volumes to me regarding the GOP's complete lack of a legitimate platform.

Conventions are about tossing red meat to the true believers. I think Rubio, Christie & Martinez did a good job there. Everyone else was lacking. Clint Eastwood was an abomination.
In any case, expect to see more of the same next week.

You're creating a false dilemma by insisting that I need to stand by my beliefs; either I am with you or against you. It's inconceivable that I have an unformed opinion. You participate in ad hominem attacks by calling me a liar (twice!) and hew to your polemic with other accusations intended to further inflame (the definition of a troll). You then proceed to project your own froth and anger onto myself and others, even going so far as to hold others responsible for some imaginary slight ("the first stone"). You are beautiful, you know that?

All the speeches (transcripts) can be found here: www.politico.com/p/pages/rnc-2012-speechesI'm reviewing Rubio's and Martinez which I haven't read yet, and I'll give Christie's another gander (I don't recall it being particularly memorable). I'm excited about Newt's speech, because generally I find Gingrich to be extraordinarily detestable. He's one of those guys who uses emphasis in his demagoguery to present the illusion of substance. I'll let you guys know if I see any 1) interesting policy statements or 2) outrageous uses of history for partisan ends.

Someone who wishes to claim they weren't hostile wouldn't respond with a hostile tone. It is... self-defeating.
It doesn't matter. There is no reason why we haven't required photo identification before now to vote. It's a simple step to make our voting system more secure.

You are beautiful, you know that? If you have an unformed opinion your posts wouldn't be concern troll attacks. They would be one or two sentence posts that state, "I would like more information on the subject." Posts that are exactly like the throwaway comments you make on your youtube videos when you don't understand the strategic significance of some maneuvers. They aren't drenched in silly counter factual statements that you "disclaim." And there is no false dilemma here. Either you believe the present GOP is racist, or you do not. There is no third 'nuanced' option.

This is worse than Communism. I would say that, so far, Eastwood's speech was the best: I appreciated his fake point-counterpoint rhetoric and his critiques of Obama's afghan strategy. You can see why Republicans elect actors- they're able to "connect" with the audience through their mastery of spontaneous oratory and demagoguery. "We own this country" he stated flatly at one point (apparently in reference to American citizens), but a revealing comment from someone speaking at the Party of the 1%'s convention. Eastwood's speech was more memorable than Romney's: Romney was sucking up to women voters the entire time and I just can't see him beating Obama- he's too wooden and ridiculous. The debates should be fantastic.
