"If you take empty space, and get rid of everything, absolutely everything. IF that nothing weighs something..." her goes onto say "In physics nothing isn't nothing anymore, because of the laws of quantum mechanics and special relativity (Sarcasm - which everyone who isn't a physicist is so familiar with of course) on extremely small scales nothing is really a boiling bubbling brew of virtual particles popping in and out of existence in a time scale so short you can't see them"...ok. Dark matter, is still matter as it contains mass, which is still something, something cannot create itself into existence from pure nothingness at a given point in time, nor pop into existence from nothing, something must trigger it, and so still in light of all this theoretical physics, you come back to three basic options... but before i go into those, EVEN energy (triggering expansion of the dark matter) is something, it's not nothing, you don't get energy from nowhere in real pure nothingness. Energy is not nothing. This link explains it more eloquently than I can. www.ligonier.org/rym/broadcasts/audio/i-am-aseity-god/These three options... 1) The universe is itself eternal. 2) It is self created through spontaneous generation (which is the absurd contradiction Lawrence is speaking to when you boil it down to what it is) 3) or it is created by something eternal

Actually you do get energy from nothingness. Look up the Casimir effect. Not necessarily. You've basically restated the old debate about, "if god created the universe what created god?" --- which is of course a fallacy.

So your opinion is energy in some form is self existent and eternal? It being the only presence in an truly empty space.

www.zeitgeistmovie.com/on an unrelated note to that documentary: energy is represented by particles, positive and negative. watch all 5 of these documentaries spotlighting stephen hawkins work if you wanna figure out what makes up the visual representation of black holes, what is sucked inside, and other things pertaining to awesomeness. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WSC3BMy23E

so if "Also, "empty space" is presumably filled with 11 dimensional super gravity and plank length strings and what not." So empty space is nonexistent and there is no such thing as nothing... I'm just trying to figure out where point zero is, and what 11 dimensional super gravity plank length strings are, I don;t suppose I'll understand Stephen Hawking's book without a background in physics. Can you ever trace things back to zero matter, nothingness? breaking things down infinitesimally smaller seems like what this is to me. Below is my view point/belief. marshill.com/media/doctrine/creation-god-makes

Point zero is the planck length. Nothing can be smaller than a planck length because anything smaller would immediately form a black hole and then instantly evaporate through hawking radiation. In the same sense as absolute zero Kelvin. Nothing can be colder because then it would have negative entropy which would presumably violate causality (although this isn't really an accurate analogy; check out the page on negative temperature)

The amusing part about this isn't you challenging theory on the origins of the universe - as any completely logical person would when exposed to an idea, especially one as vast and complicated as that - but instead of looking for another sufficient answer based on evidence you just instead embrace the zombie jew.
And I'm being kind/optimistic in ordering the thought pattern that way, I have feeling it's the complete opposite.
