First date will be September the 8th at 2pm set myth2night.webs.comUsually after every myth world cup I dissapear from Myth 2 until I get an e-mail about the next mwc. This mainly happens becasue I am back in school and become too busy to get onto marius and have to wait for a game to be hosted. My passion for Myth 2 and my lack of time has led me to create this site/forums and come up with the idea of a "Myth night" where other skilled players who enjoy playing fun/competitive large 2t and Tffa games can come together one day a week for an hour or two (or however long/little you can stay around) and enjoy some good ol' fashion Myth 2. This will give everyone a chance to crack out the Myth 2 CD and dust it off as you can just show up without having to sign up at all unlike a tournament but still enjoy quality games. I plan on implementing many ideas that I have recived from the competitive community so that this Myth 2 night ends up being a sucess and not something that is just going to last a month. Some of these things include: keeping track of records, doing "kickball" style teams allowing old players to come back and have fun instead of having to play a full team of active players, Quickly repicking teams after every 2team game allowing the players present the opportunity to play with a wide variety of players, and many more ideas. I hope to see many of you participate and enjoy this great game that is Myth 2 soulblighter

Hey Asmo here is something that might be cool to have on Myth Night. It is called the "ELO Rating System" it basically is an on going Tournament that people can compete at their convenience. Which would work good for a kinda loose Myth Night. To have like an on going 1v1 Tourney with matches happening on Myth Night.
Quote from Wikipedia about it. "The Elo rating system is a method for calculating the relative skill levels of players in two-player games such as chess. It is named after its creator Arpad Elo, a Hungarian-born American physics professor.
The Elo system was invented as an improved chess rating system, but today it is also used in many other games. It is also used as a rating system for multiplayer competition in a number of video games,[1] and has been adapted to team sports including association football, American college football, basketball, and Major League Baseball.
Each player has a numerical rating. A higher number indicates a better player, based on results against other rated players. The winner of a contest between two players gains a certain number of points in his or her rating and the losing player loses the same amount. The number of points won or lost in a contest depends on the difference in the ratings of the players, so a player will gain more points by beating a higher-rated player than by beating a lower-rated player. In chess, for instance, if one player is rated 100 points higher than the other player, they are expected to win about five games out of eight,[citation needed] and the rating changes reflect that. Over a series of games, if a player does better than expected, based on the ratings (compared to the opponents'), his or her rating will go up."
Each Player starts with 1000-1600 points. If a Player with 1000 points vs another Player with 1000 points. It is expected to be 50/50 who would win. So the winner would gain 16 points and the loser lose 16 points. If you had Player A with 1500 points vs Player B with 1000 points. Since the Player A is the expected winner if he wins he would gain 1 point. player B would lose 1 point. If Player B wins he would gain 32 points and Player A would lose 32 points. Their new Rankings would be Player A 1468 Player B 1032. If they VS again the points won/lost would be less since their ranking are closer now.
You can Google it or whatever to learn more. Basically it keeps track of Players skill level the more points a Player has the higher their Skill Level. So players end up being Ranked according to their score. Basically 1,2,3,.... like in a Tourney except that not everyone has to play at the same time and there isn't really structured matches. The Matches could happen at anytime whenever 2 people want to compete. Their results are recorded and there Points are adjusted.
I thought maybe Matches could be held on Myth night and a date set when the final scores would be recorded, maybe like 3 months. Which would be 12 Myth Nights. This would Rank Players 1st 2nd 3rd ect...Just like in a Tourney but it could be done in a more casual manor with Players not needed to be or make certain match times. It would be something else that Players could compete at on Myth Night. The Tourney results could have an over all winner. Then also winners on each map or game type.
This is how they Rank Professional Chess Players since it would be nearly impossible to get people from around the World together to have a big Tourney, but the results and Rankings come out the same as if they did have a big Tourney.
PrincePawn had set this up for Gimble and it worked real well. You had a match with someone. Loaded the results at the site he had set up and Players were Ranked.
For Chess this is the Classes that Players are in based on their Elo ranking.
2200 - 2800 Master 4 % 2000 - 2200 Expert 8 % 1800 - 2000 Class A 12 % 1600 - 1800 Class B 18 % 1400 - 1600 Class C 18 % 1200 - 1400 Class D 20 % 0 - 1200 Class E 20 %
Here are the probabilities of winning based on the points difference of Players. P/D Win % 400 .919 300 .853 200 .758 100 .637 50 .569 0 .500 -50 .431 -100 .363 -200 .242 -300 .147 -400 .081
If you like the idea it can be set up easy. There are plenty of Elo Ranking programs out there. Once it is set up Players just need to submit their Match Results and the Ranking is automatic.

MariusNet already uses an ELO-style system for their ranking. It would be far easier to just create separate accounts and play only against each other if you want to do this than submit results to an external web site.
This also seems sort of unrelated to the whole point of the Myth nights though.

Like I said PrincePawn had a site up with the scoring system on it. You put in your wins/loses and that was it. Your score was automatically calculated so it didnt take much effort. How it relates to Myth night is it is something else to bring Players together to play. There could be the Team games on Myth Night but people could also compete on the Elo Tourney. Myself I'm all for Tourneys so I just figure it is another Tourney that can be easily done during Myth Night while people are already on. They could set up matches with other Players for that night or just do like "pickup" matches with people.

Their ELO-system sucks, terribly. It needs a reset. ELO only works well with arranged matchmaking. Actually that pretty much goes for any ranking system. Thus their system would be fine in the context of accounts that you guys organized on a ladder league, but it's never going to work when it tries to apply itself to every pickup game with zillions of dummy accounts, etc. No reset or change of logic will solve that one. Too little useful ranking information to go off of when everyone just plays whatever games they feel like; too biased.

LOL it was originally suppose to be at night then people convinced me to change the time. Myth Night sounds better than Myth Day though so I just kept it.
