This is a list of the top 5 mwc upsets of mwc's I have participated in. 2004-2007 2010-2012
5. Mental over TVR 2010.
Mental was a team that no one expected much from but HMP carried the team and they went on to beat TVR(who was considered the r3 team of a few years ago). This Mental team later went on to beat tcox 3-2 in games in the bottom bracket semi final but lost the match by 1 pt due to the scoring system.
4.Tcox over Bia3 2006
Tcox although a big name had what many would consider some very average players on this team including ed,fool and maybe a few others I can't remember. This Tcox team managed to out play a stacked BIA 3 team that was in the finals the year before in a very close series winning 3-2.
3.Tcox over BME 2006
Tcox one upped there upset bid of the week before and managed to knock off the favorites BME who won mwc 2004 and were considered the favorites by many to win every 2t tournament from that time forward. This is in my opinion is the most impressive run by a team to make the mwc finals since i started participating.
2.Evil Agents over ICBM 2004
I think many consider this to be the biggest upset in mwc history and it is still brought up to this day. ICBM was a remake of the 2003 champions BIA and everyone expected them to make a good run in to the finals. In hind sight although this is one of the major upsets of all time there were quite a few major changes to the champion BIA3 roster and looking back at the Agents roster they were full of solid players that went on to be parts of 2t tournament winners in the future.
1. NFDF over Greek Gods (tcox) 2004
To me this is the biggest upset that I can remember. Going into mwc 2004 (the first one I participated in) NOBODY was expecting NFDF to finish anywhere near the top 4. The only players on the roster that you may recognize now days were Duan,CRC and Muse...The only other player I can remember off the top of my head is Gastank. NFDF finish above many other solid teams in a very competitive 36 tournament including Greek Gods, lame (civil, bmf and rable mix),Ghetto Cakes(a cacra mix with a few gtm and henry),Evil Agents,Poop, and WP.
Honorable mention: HoA/Tcox over BME mwc 2005...I can't remember which one of the two teams knocked BME into the bottom bracket/out of the tournament so I left this one off the list.
I would be interested to see what you guys think are the biggest upsets in mwc history (especially from the ones I didn't participate in)

WHERE ARE THEY NOW:
BIA/ICBM: hasn't been able to manage better than 4th since 2005, due to the raziel curse
mental/TVR: the only decent players on their teams (with the exception of gekko) have all joined ratking to form the best of the worst teams in MWC
BME: Decided they would rather play halo
Tcox: Realizing that the only way he could win tournaments was leeching off of np (see mwc06 and mwc07), grim conspired to get tcox addicted to WoW, then was able to guilt-free form teams with arzenic and tirri. Meanwhile the former mwc "champions" tcox is getting swept by teams like R3, and grim has never looked back.
Evil Agents/MBA/TSS/rape day/huge in japan/cobra kai dojo: have had several different incarnations over the years, occasionally adding more 3 ballers who are only good at dark maps. Each year they end up somewhere between 10th and 5th place. Each year they hope to beat one of those teams that is worthy of being ranked top 4, and each year they are disappointed (except 2004). Usually they have a hilarious infight which results in 1v1 retirement challenges being issued, midgame drops, and units being detached right as they die. These teams usually have rivalries with ducky/dantski/ratking captained rabble squads.

Not sure how most if any fit in there.

Our roster in MWC 2004 was me/arz/cave/ram/zer/flat (who never showed I think?)/TAINTED BLISS/Arz' brother Riwen, so I wouldn't really call that so much of an upset. It's rather upsetting that NC lost to us that year.
Also surely Zak realizes that both me and arz were on Tcox since 2001, so it's not just me who betrayed them in 06! And also we WON MWC05 prior to that!

Not sure how most if any fit in there. Crun's right. There was never any in-fighting amongst us, let alone 1v1 retirement matches. The continuation of Evil went through the mwc's I decided to remake the team in after getting most of the originals back to m2 (MBA, and MH if I recall). The variations like cobra kai/huge in japan were mostly different teams (different organizer and captain - Asmo) with a few of the same players. These teams also did well and had their fun during MWC. The lowest place we ever recieved was 8th place, and the highest 5-6 - which are never determined once the 5-6 place teams are eliminated in B-bracket. The idea of people dropping and detaching units as they die is ludicrous and false. You must be confusing us with a team with players like Zak and Clank.

HOA had guys like me myrk judas henry, clank,tb,sb etc on it and our match attendance was horrible to the point that myrk quit after a couple matches and joined another team. In DE1 we only showed up with 2 players i think (and i think u had to have minimum of 3 to play) and Asmo's team wouldnt let us reschedule to mid week and force foreited us. UA was like BME with chohan dwarf btt etc but also had power hitters like Shaister, Chron1 and Liger (who was probably at his peak at the time). They were probably the favourite to win the tourney. Anyway we beat asmos team in bottom bracket when we had more than 2 people show up and had to play UA (who tcox had put in bottom bracket). We actually beat them 3-2 or something and won match in big upset. We then got elimmed by tcox and finished 3rd or something i think. Another big upset was when NFD eliminated Tcox in i dont remember the year. *edit* oh u listed this one as #1 lol

I think i was in the Tcox team in 06 that knocked BME into the bottom bracket. I think it was considered an upset at the time. I think it was in 05? or something that Tcox knocked UA(BME) into the bottom bracket which was considered an upset. But the bigger upset was when HOA eliminated BME from the tournament the next week. HOA were plagued by attendance problems etc and got fallback forfeited in de1 and had been in bottom bracket since DE2 and were definately not expected to beat UA. I think HOA-UA should probably be #1 or #2 on the list. Another upset i remember was Anal Bleachers (ABS) vs NameChangers (12 Tasks) in MWC07. We knocked them down to bottom bracket in a match we won on points but lost in games (3-2 to NC). Was in both of these. Damn i feel special now. Being in 2 out of 5 of these and HoAvsUA etc i think i have probably been in more mwc upsets than anyone.

Then i find out next day we are eliminated i was like lol wut? It was definately considered a huge upset I think. I think HOA-UA was more of an upset but NFD-TCOX would be in the top 2 or 3. Lol i wish that site was still up. Didnt remember beating NC now i'd like to see the site.

Playing undermanned didnt help but not really any excuses.

Including the honorable mention, I was in 4 of these matches. Tcox 04/06 and HOA 05. HOA/UA in 05 was the biggest due to our performance up to that point and the fact that we went down 2-0 in the series and were getting the primest Fagne shit talk ever produced. Tcox's 06 run was impressive as a whole, but nobody under the sun thought we would beat UA in 05
