New Laptop, can't use formations or presets

I just got a refurbished HP Pavilion dv9000, running Windows 7 ULTIMATE. When I try to play a friendly game of Myth, I can't seem to use formations (the number keys just don't do anything) or presets (I can set them but I can't seem to really recall them). Does anybody know what's going on?

Sometimes the laptop kbs have a lock function that's weird. I know that can happen with the F1 etc keys. Check Google if u can, or mb call HP. Could have been something from refurb process. Hope that helps bc its a hell of a problem.

Thanks Rat But the problem is now gone!

I ran some Windows updates with the help of Shai, and everything works fine. These PCs are truly mysterious machines...
