i think i have talked about this before and probably to project magma too but i have forgotten those discussions so ill post again. since swithing from win98SE/Win ME to xp, presets in myth 2 dont work as well. i have had this problem ever since i abandoned sweet old Win ME and over several different operating systems, different computers/keyboards/mouses the problem still persists. if you press alt+number and then immediately afterwards click your mouse button, nothing happens. you can easily test this in game. if my memory serves me correctly, this wasnt the case in win ME. this makes myth half as enjoyable since most of the times i die, its because preset didnt select. you can work around this problem just by using presets and doing everything else a little slower but it's pretty hard to do since everything comes from lightning fast muscle memory. what usually happens is something like this: your lock is moving towards enemy fireball. you select that lock's preset, move your lock back fast and move on to other things fast. after about 2-3 additional moves you notice that your lock is still walking towards the fireball, GAH the lock wasnt selected. now you must try to do things even faster and try to select the lock again and press back back back and again nothing happens because this time you had to try to do it very fast. and now the game is over you go to sleep weeping and cursing grim does anyone have a solution to this big problem? thanks in advance, your myth friend tirri

Yes I have noticed this phenom. Now I tend to just click on these individual units in these situations. You do lose a bit of reaction time to the command but at least your unit eventually does what you want.

i do not believe this problem is a pre set problem , make sure you are using open GL for your graphics in preference and also explore windows mode vs full screen mode especially if you have multiple windows open in windows mode , also make sure you are using a standard mouse point and not some weird fancy mouse pointers and check your mouse properties from the control panel , if all fails you can run myth on different windows by right clicking on it and you can set it to run under win 98 .

We all get old Tirri, but some of us go senile before others. I'm sorry bro.

If you had no units selected before recalling a preset, then it would work instantly. If you had something selected you need to release the alt-# keys before clicking on the ground and not a moment sooner. Myth does not know if you are going to create a new preset from your selection which is why it does not automatically recall your preset until you let go of the keys.
