First off I do want to correct my mistake for putting nc on par with tcox. Admittedly I only had so much information to go off of, but you were right I was wrong. Let us move on.
By FAR the most interesting / important match was that of Sp v tcox. Since there were few other decent match ups ill start there. I had an sneaking suspicion that this match was going to be one sided, but no idea how much so.
First off, we had a paris vs gamer match up for captains. If their is a cardinal sin for captains its taking too many units and not giving orders. Boy do I know this all too well.
Game 1:
tcox roster: gamer, ramirez, akira, cave, general x, flatline, stormrider
Sp roster (not exactly sure): paris, gk, homer, pk, gkg, ew, abs
Trades are very similar except sp goes for more arcs and less morts. Gamer kept 2 morts as cap that really could have been used elsewhere. Esp mid. Tcox's flanks are larger until Sp reinforces later, leaving mid to be dominated by sp. Genx loses his mort in like 5 seconds. Stormrider is on E flank and refuses to rush paris who only has 2 zerks and jman for meele. It would have been an uphill rush but still should have happened. Gk had a great shot on gamer's mort on D killing it. And 2 seconds later another easy shot to take genx's 2nd mort. With 7 mins left in the game its not looking good for tcox. Homer and gk have an open path to flag and simply take it. Gk mvp that game.
Game 2:
Same rosters, tai kung added to tcox. This game was a little bit of a disaster. Tcox forgot to tag their backs, and are very slow to get puss. Gamer holds onto too many herons leaving leaving squads with less D. No D on back flags for tcox. butters tries to flank around and is stopped, on W flank. On E flank flat and genx are rushed and are hurt badly. Gamer rushes in to save them. Sensing he can tag their backs gamer rushes, but the D is too much and is stopped. While this happens butters shows some good play and takes down tai. With 4 min left tcox is down 30%, not looking good. With this in mind tcox has STILL not picked up all their puss Last flag is surrounded and taken. Game mvp goes to butters, with almost 10:1 ratios.
Game 3:
A very important match at this point. Obv tcox cannot lose this and still win the match. Lets see what happens. The trades were polar opposites. Tcox went for a balanced trade, leaning heavy on arty and arcs. Sp went max bre with much less meele. Note that tcox is now playing 8v7. Sp went with heavy flanks and a lighter mid. The bre were a great call bc it allowed them to have speedy effective flanks. The coveted corner flags are both tagged first by sp, giving them a great advantage. Mid and south are pushed back, losing a good amount of units in the process. Abs has a great move pinching mid to accomplish this. Flat comes to help mid and has a great shot on homer, killing 2 morts! Now sp is knocking on the door of tcox's outer flags. Storm misses a key block and losses a mort. Tai rushes S with 3 mauls and dies. Akria is pinched S and dies. 2 flags to go for sp. cave and flat are last men standing with 11% and are mopped up. mvp is abs for his brilliant game awareness, also killed a lot. Note that flat and cave have been playing well. In this game flat does really well, rest of team not so much.
At this point the match is over and so my review ends there. I really don't think tcox did that badly. Sp is a really good team that has that effect. Sure, the capping could have been better among other things. Easy to say that when I wasn't playing sp this week
My team v Ts - next most important match. I'll cover this one less bc I'm already over this.
Game1:
Both teams seemed to have their best 8 handy. Asmo caps v ducky.
Asmo gets much less arty and leans more rush-ish. I think this is a bad idea. Plus the ts team got off to a slow start still handing out units as game starts. My team gains mid hill. Khan had a large set of bows and somehow ended up on a flank and not mid. At 9min my team is already close to ts flag. They inch closer but ts mounts a good stand. Chron had a hell of a shot on tirri. This along with E flank winning turned the tide. Ts mops up and wins. Great job Ts. mvp goes to chron.
Game2:
Ts leaves fire arrows. Another slow start. Very close game but my team managed to go vic imm first. mvp was close call between grim and bone.
Game 3:
Rode now caps. Ts gets a very slow start on tag game. Also has a large mid which is proven to be bad. Rode tagged SE flag but the NW wasn't. Both flanks seem very much too small. Ts wins mid and holds. Now my team only needs to hold them. Mid battles with my team holding it, both flanks continue to hold. Tirri and others mop up mid. Arz for mvp.
Game 4: caused myth to crash, my team wins.
Good showing for Ts regardless of score. A few strategic errors was the only problem I saw. They continue to show for games and are a threat. The biggest tell all of this was that my team can be out bc'ed. I didn't see 5 ball play out there either, by anyone. I think nc has managed to slide into the #2 spot bc of this. Again, this is nothing personal guys, just stating my opinion. Seems to be a very large lack of unbiased review out there (ok I'm a little biased, so what).
Power Rankings for DE:
1. South Park
2. NC
3. My team
4. Tcox
5. R3 (though close to 4th)
6. Ts
