1997 I had just told my mom to buy Myth TFL for my brothers birthday because I wanted to play it.
"He'll like this" I said
After installing it, which I remember taking about an hour back in the day on windows 95, gateway top of the line cow themed piece of shit.
We played the tutorial, then started a mission. Upon realizing you couldn't build units, I lost interest and don't think I really picked up the games until 2000.
Only years later after coming to the conclusion that unit building structures and resources only result in "arms races" that prolong video games and detract from the actual combat part of the game did I value this little gem, that and the lovely friendships and people that make up the community.

Friend was playing it at a house-- his myth name shall never be mentioned-- and it looked awesome so I waited for Myth 2 to come out and got it October 1998. I will not specify anything else.

I found out about it from my cousin. One of my cousin's best friends back in the day was comet in like 99. Dude had more points at scav hunt than the 2nd place person did total points. Can't for the life of me remember his name. Wish I had saved my old films from the bnet days on my old comps

My grandfather gave me TFL in Xmas of 97. I played a bit, but got stuck on the 2nd level where you have to kill the traitor. I didn't understand the "mission" focus vs. just kill everything. So I got pissed and put it down for a while. A month later, I figured it out and loved the game forever more.
I played myth tons starting in 97 and yet I still suck more than anyone. GG

the same friend that introduced me to x-com introduced me to myth in 97. i don't think i really had an appreciation for it back then, even though i was hooked. the first thing I did was to beat the single-player campaign by painfully trying to kill EVERYTHING with archers... TFL archers. All because I didn't want to lose a unit.
And these days I'll just run over a satchel pile for a larf

A co-worker (PIZZAMAN ~WCC) who lived/worked at a pizza joint (i was delivering for them) played TFL religiously in 1997... I had a lot of downtime between deliveries so he let me play on his account. He pretty much only played MMD BC, so that's what I started playing. After becoming hooked, I bought my own copy... joined the MMD clan ~SoM~ (with SuperMan, AcidBurn, Fortesque, SuperTick, and a bunch of others). Our main rival clan was #@l# (who i later joined -- PPE, Swoop, and a bunch of others). Man... I miss the days of several full rooms and dozens of games to choose from...

I saw a reveiw of tfl on the tv and got hooked at once. Bought it at once and got enthralled with the single player story. When I tryed it online i turned out to have a good chance against anyone in ffa, wich in turn made me hunt rank1 in the BC statistics and that was the start of my addiction. I more or less only played BC for the first year of myth2 aswell if available. Grave being the tfl map, gimble and demise being the sb maps. no dark maps damn it!! dark maps are for pussies wanting to hide behind those trows.
