What is the minimum number of pitches that can be thrown by a starting pitcher in order to get a win?
Edit- Hint: Pitcher must start and finish the game completely.

That's just a math question not a baseball question. 1 pitch per batter. 1x3 = 3 per inning 3x8 if the hometeam 24 3x9 if the away tean 27.

LOL

If a starting pitcher throws through 5 complete innings and leaves the game without relinquishing the lead, and his team wins, he is recorded a win per mlb rulebook 10.17(b). The minimum amount of pitches would be considered 1 pitch per batter per inning. This is 15 pitches.

So you can't use the argument that the team doesn't relinquish the lead, because the pitcher is never replaced.

You can't argue with a professional ump! Your question is stupid then. It asks what the minimum pitches a starting pitcher must have to record a win. Only in the "hint" do you stipulate he must start and finish, which is not required to record a win in baseball.

I am requiring in my question that the pitcher starts and finishes the game. SO THEREFORE, HOW MANY PITCHES IS THE MINIMUM THAT MUST BE THROWN BEFORE THE PITCHER GETS THE WIN, THE TEAM WINS, AND THE GAME IS OVER? LOL

Assuming the pitcher throws the full game: 5 innings; 3 batters per inning; 1 pitch per batter (rain delay - only need 5 innings to be official). 15 pitches
Or if you want to be a total douche, I suppose you could say that the pitcher starts the game, throws 1 pitch, shifts to another position but doesn't leave the game, and then rotates back for the final pitch. So 2 pitches there.
But that's just stupid.

Yes, you could do that, but the starting pitcher would not get the win in that case.
