Parts of it can be, but even when there were more than a handful of people playing, it was social only by accident, not by design as with an MMO. The competitive structure is also night and day. Outside of tourneys here -- and even then most of the time -- games here are one-off. The MMOs at the time of the article ('96?) are the complete opposite and even different than what's called "mmo" now. Success relied almost entirely on genuine alliances and factions, not just zerging with people you get along with.

heh, any multiplayer game is going to involve interaction with other players and have social elements to it. unranked players and co-op players fit the non-competitive types since the beginning of Myth just fine.
i know nothing about MMOs from 1996, but all it really sounds like you are saying is that the design of those games were more social. which is fine all multiplayer games are going to cater to some of those player types better than others, but it doesn't make the player type definitions a "stretch". It sounds like to me you are saying that Myth probably was designed best to cater to Killers.

Yes I'm literally shaking with fear about your mad skillz.
Don't say you're vaguely good at a game when your rank is pretty shitty, mine is too but I don't say I 'rape'.
