spread the talent out! Every year for the past 3 mwcs I have been around there has only been 3 teams that could win the tournament before it even started. If NC,SP,My Team would split up some and mix and match with r3,tcox and TSS then there could be 6 pretty equal teams that could make for an interesting tournament. This would require everyone from those teams to be on board though, once one team starts stacking that whole idea would be ruined.
2nd suggestion is CHANGE. Why not make teams of 6 and do a 4v4 tournament but still use the semi big maps like trow,des and all the 3rd party maps but just eliminate the massive maps like dark canyon that would just be a headache to play a 4v4 on.

MWC keeps going because the fun of the tradition if it was changed drastically people wouldn't play it anymore. Also people play in MWC for the ability to play with their friends. It just so happens normally shitty players are friends with other shitty players and good players are friends with good players. And for the most part in the entirety of MWC and every myth tournament there are always basically 3-4 teams that have a real shot of actually winning it.
tl:dr people who give a shit and don't suck don't want to team with aspies or people that don't care.

ive been a long time advocate of an 8 captain draft tournament. Captains would be bone, ska, gkg, wwo, etc.
But everyone is too much of a pussy to do this, every time it is brought up players whine and bitch about how they want to be on the same team with their friends. What faggots.
Also no one even asked me to be on a team paris just added me to roster and i started playing. kickball tournament is definitely the way to go if everyone participates they will be the funnest games we have ever had by FAR.

A lot of ww2 games used to be kickball style and it can be super fun, but ya it only works out if people actually try and want to do it. Otherwise there will just be people not showing up b/c they didn't get on the team they wanted. And with the myth community that would probably happen often.

I agree with the drastic change thing, it would be a huge risk. as for your other points they are null. People could still play with their close friends (I hope you don't have more then a couple of myth buddies that you consider close friends unless they are rl friends). The level of play would still be high as well, the majority of players from tcox,tss and r3 could fit in and be solid role players if matched with other top players, look no further than yourself being on sp. |

MWC is a long standing tradition, and a new system like this would break up traditional teams. It took some convincing just to get NC to play in this tourney... guarantee most would not have played if they couldn't play together.

You would be better off setting a team captains something along the lines of competent people that know the community, or all heavy hitters. Simply put the list you came up with is an extremely wide spectrum of talent.

this was already tried in the last winter tournament, look how that turned out. Here is what I would suggest:
-make it a winter tournament
-assign 4 quality, responsible captains who also serve as assistant TO's (8 is way too many)
-use as many players as you can in the game, but ultimately it is flexible to however many show up
-best of 5 match, alternating picks with 1 neutral map pre-assigned
-captains repick their teams from the players in game at the start of each game
-this means that teams are dynamic and different every game
-this accounts for when captains make shitty picks.
-captain that lost the last game gets to pick first.
-tournament is scored by captains being ranked by their records, and players being ranked either by their straight record, or some calculation that inputs their raw records combined with their captain's record to account for advantages/disadvantages of your captain.
-players can pick their captain preferences when they register so they are more likely to play for a captain they want to play for.
-just make everyone show up at 2pm on Sunday if they want to play in a match so it is simple and everyone knows the time
-just do a round robin one time to make updated captain rankings, then if needed 1 more round to break ties/add more games to make more accurate rankings (this makes it a 3-4 week tournament) Alternatively, you could just have it last 1-2 weeks, w/e.
-when making rankings, you use your total record of games wins/losses, not just who won what round.

I've been an advocate of this for years also and think it would be real fun. Sadly it has a couple of problems associated with it. (a). There are too many "elitist" or whatever players that would refuse to team with other players they consider below them etc etc. GkG or whoever would probably ragequit the tourney before it even began if he ended up having to have fatherxmas (i know i know fatherxmas isnt at all that bad) or edulus or someone on his team. (b) Fallbacks would be hell with most teams probably having a multi-national player mix. Still it would be a fun idea to try to make work. I'd play in it. |

Couple of notes. If so many people think its a cool idea why not somebody with the time and motivation make it happen. Also fallback is an issue. Sunday 2pm fallback i think is 2am Monday morning for japanese and 4am monday morning for australia which would pretty much kill any chance of any japanese or australian players playing  |
