This thread seriously over estimates what myth was. The reality is: the only difference between myth tournaments now and then is ONE more tough match. QFT. Go back and watch some of the old films... the vast majority of the games don't exactly demonstrate great play and teamwork compared to modern Myth. No one can dispute that there are fewer teams, but if anything the average quality of play has risen. I thought there were actually a reasonably large number of good matches this MWC especially compared to last year where the Bullz pretty much just steam-rolled everyone. And adrenaline's satchel bomb was even better than the CBing in last years' finals  All in all a good MWC I think. I'd like to think the average quality of play is higher when there are only like 30 people still playing at all. |

The people still playing are self-selecting so the fact that there are fewer doesn't mean the "competitiveness" of the tournament has gone down. Like I said, just go watch some of the films... this has been discussed to death I think but there's not really any doubt that many of the teams in this year's MWC could handily beat the 99/2000-era MWC champions. You see fewer mistakes and outright dumb stuff in the QR of this MWC than in the finals of those ones. |

On a side note. Tirri and Myrk are probably the 2 best singular mythers ever. Were actually really good back when it mattered and won stuff then (whether it was ffa or team or 2v2 3v3 whatever) and still maintain a good level of skill long since their real care dwindled  |

You can excuse some of the obnoxious micro problems in 99/00 due to lag, but it's hard to excuse the unit trades and distribution. Not to mention stuff like arty and pus use...

Hilarious, once MWC is over all these so called great mythers start posting about their greatness and bitching. WHERE WAS THIS DRAMA DURING THE TOURNAMENT?!?!?!?!

Well looking at the teams that placed above cacra in 2001 I'd say yes all 7 of them were contenders to make the finals. Hell no#7 was MoR which were expected to be one of the finalists before the tourney started. Oh and cacra werent all that bad in 2001. Pretty solid roster really. #11 ICBM- lowest placement for defending champs 2004 |
