White Squall (1996).

Jeff bridges heads up a cast of stars including John Savage and Caroline Goodall in this film by Ridley Scott.

This is essentially Dead Poet's Society on a sailing ship. A bunch of teenagers in 1961 go on a quest to find themselves at sea which ends in spectacular tragedy when a freak storm sinks the ship.
